Let me hold you.. just a little bit longer...

Let me know you,..just a little bit more...

Let my thirst become fully quenched,

Let me share your sun-drenched shore....

I love you...I truly love you...

Take my heart, its yours !!

I am a pedestrian on your avenue...

You look and my heart soars...

Come to me, now... here, in our bed...

Give me that secret smile, that look of yes....

Your smokey eyes, your lips of red...

Our passion rises with each caress...

Hold me Darling, hold me tight...

Hold back the night, hold back the fright...

Good evening POP...I'm so glad you enjoyed this little poem...We all love with varying degrees, and the love of a man and a woman is a merging of souls...a complete dedication to each other...Looking at that last picture I see something in her face that transcends superficial love...there is a look of permanence there...a look of strength and endurance...We must all love deeply, fearlessly, with a passion that will endure forever...otherwise, we have not lived at all...Larry

Hi Sir Larry... If you are going to continue to write like this; then you will need to get a Vacancy/No Vacancy sign at your front gate; as there will be a procession of women beating their way to your door! And you know what that can do for your fishing!! lol.

Nicely done my friend - a welcome glimpse of a true heart. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Good morning Russ...It's always a pleasure to hear from you...Thanks for the thoughtful comments...Auden's poetry is so intimately concerned with the intertwining of love and life...I remember a quote of his that struck a chord with me; " All that we are not, stares back at what we are "...

Did you watch the English Patient, something about this reminds me of that film. Passion wanting, needing holding loving...... and also inevitable ending, maybe in death. It was well written, thankyou

maven101 profile image

maven101 Hub Author 21 months ago

Hi Joy...Yes, I did watch the film, The English Patient...A wonderful film evoking deep passion and a traumatic memory for me...And, yes, this poem is about need, and a pure love that transcends fear...Look closely at the artist's rendering of a woman in love staring into her man's eyes, giving him unabashed sustenance and consolation, as only a woman can...The greatest gift we can give each other is love... A simple touch, a little hug, or a passing smile may mean all the world to someone in need...

Thank you for the insightful comments...Larry

Tony...I have to ask myself the question; What came first..? The need, or the woman..? When does one realize a deep need, a need that makes the soul ache, the heart contract..? Is the need exposed when our hands touch for the first time..? Or was it there all the time, unfulfilled, unnoticed..? I honestly don't know...What I do know is that it is a shared need, where we each give of ourselves to each other, a melding of deep emotions that manifest physically and spiritually...

This is nice Larry! concise and very passionate and sweet. You might like the movie "In the Mood For Love" a Chinese (subtitles) film and I forget the name of director - but I loved it and it was not about eroticism as much as about the connection between man and woman - and beautifully designed and filmed.

Well Larry...I don't know about all that femininin'ine stuff you're saying...but I do feel as though "Men" should front a more compassionate approach to to alot more stuff on this planet. Maybe...if real men step up to the plate concerning peace, planet resources, dialogue between known enemies, helping a neighbor, etc. then a little compassion...would do a whole lot of good! (Spoken from a Poet's Heart!) Later...my good friend!

" What the world needs now

Is love, sweet love

No, not just for some

But for everyone..."

"that look of yes" is so erotic. finally, the soft underbelly of the porcupine is laid bare!!! Good for you, Larry. Marine training doesn't include sharing your vulnerability. Though I read, I am a bad hubber because I infrequently comment. I have resolved to interact within the Hub community more. Love and bed poetry is a much abused and over used topic. The flow and the fact that you didn't describe love more then express your feelings or someone's feelings for the woman or the sea in question cleared you of the charge of repeating other's words more beautifully.

maven101 profile image

maven101 Hub Author 19 months ago

Jaggedfrost...Thanks for stopping by and leaving the cogent comments...I do make a conscious effort to pare my poetry to the barest minimum while still retaining the essence of its message...The danger, of course, is the production of a rather bland and uninteresting poem that loses the reader mid-sentence...Finding that middle ground is probably one of the most important obligations when writing poetry...

I remember going to poetry readings in the late 60's/early 70's where the louder you shouted and screamed the more applause was given...None of that genre has stuck to me...I cannot remember a single line from those readings/rantings...My chief emotion being disgust and asking myself why am I still here..? I stayed for the pot and sex, not the words...needless to say, the Marine Corps cured me of the one and disciplined me on the other...Larry

Jamie...Thank you for taking the time in your busy life to read and comment on this poem...

Love, true, unabashed, and without limits love, really is beautiful to behold and share...An aggressive love that will never accept anything less than total commitment, total sharing, total trust...

Hope you are having a great week...say hi to your talented Mom for me...Larry

Look at how many fans you have! Your poetry obviously strikes a chord! Oh that I had more time to read every poem! BUT - I sure am going to try. I especially love this line:

"I am a pedestrian on your avenue..."

Perfection!

Carol...You honor me with your wonderfully expressed pleasure...Now that your husband is home for good you two will have plenty of time to stroll that " avenue "...

Always a pleasure to hear from you and see your bright smile in my comments section...Larry

Good morning Larry. "Let my thirst become fully quenched,"

speaks to such an essential need. "Hold back the night, hold back the fright..." speaks to the primitive intimacy of shared fears which rise with the moon each night. The tenderness of your heart shared here deserves to be let loose more often. Thank you my friend.

Gerry...I know "Let my thirst become fully quenched," resonates...You have the inner strength of ten men to finally put a cork in that bottle...I admire your fierce resolve combined with a sensitive heart so well displayed here on HubPages...Thanks for the " revisit " and comments so much appreciated...carpe diem, my friend..Larry
