A brief summary of Alexander the Great
64The son of King Phillip II of Macedon, educated by the philosopher Aristotle, Alexander first led troops at age 18. After his father's death he became king, destroyed the Evil Empire, Persia, and conquered much of the civilized world. In 323 BC, at age 33, he died after heavy drinking. It has been suggested he was poisoned by a rejected gay lover, of which he had many.

Alexander the GAY! Too funny! That he was, and he didn't seem to hide it... but neither did any of them back then! I swear the whole empire were full of bisexual men...hmmm?
The 1956 movie, "Alexander the Great" starring Richard Burton is one of my favorites. Burton never wore high heels. My image of young Alexander, the great conqueror, has been destroyed forever!
I had a friend and co-worker at The Hour newspaper who was fond of sketching some very funny cartoons of his fellow editors -- often wearing high heels and long curly hair. Very funny!
That mental imageof Richard Burton in heels made me ROFL, too. My friend didn't put himself in heels, but nearly everyone else. He claimed he wasn't good at drawing females, but his males in female get-ups sure were funny.
Ok Now we know what Collin Farrel really looks like Lol
I'm going to have to be more careful. I laughed so hard, I almost sprayed my computer with coffee.
Oh now ya did it. ROFL. You have some twisted humor too. That image will haunt me forever when I think of the man. That sort of thing was normal in those days, well except for the cross dressing, don't know about that. funny man
hee hee - brief and brilliant - love your humour
I was once told that back then the young men or boys wore for fun and the women wore just for babies they really did not care any port in a storm is how I see they looked at it
I think the bush dwellers in Bumble Town could suffer this same fate, as there certainly is an adsence of something there! Well done Maven... you are as your smile suggests... A Hard Case (kiwi slang for being humo(u)rous).. I think my mum, might have meet your dad during WW2 she was a nurse a Burwood Hosp. and you know what nurses were to the troops. I look forward to meeting you Sir.
was expecting something more historical not hysterical, but loved it just the same. the mental image i carry of Alexander has been warped for all time. just a little jealous you thought of it first Ha Ha
lol
I'm curious; how many different written records do we have that include Alexander?
He didnt hide it because at the time is was expected and almost encouraged by academics. I have heard from profesors that homosexual sex was not the same then as it is now. It was supposedly more of a rubbing thing. Just a little historical perspective not a justification. My image of him was also forever marred after watching the movie.
When you said brief you meant brief! I hit the "down page" button and I was in the comments already! I like a man who can be pithy. As a friend I mean.
I had not seen that photo of Alexander before and I must say I am taken aback by his appearance. He didn't look as I expected at all.
LOL That's too much!
You have me going for a while there until I saw the picture. He look a little like my cousin Mike in Virginia....Hmmmmmm. LOL
You had me going for a while there. Alaxander the gay looks a lot like my cousin Mike in Virginia..Hmmmmm!
LOL
This might be a little off topic but what was it about the Ancient Greek men that turned some of them towards other men? I think the Japanese samurai went gay once in a while too ... where they simply gay men or was there something more to that?
History is so amazing. Thank you, Maven
Thanks for the laugh. My entire family got a good chuckle out of this one!!!!
As a former fashion photographer I've seen these legs on many catwalks. Teehee...but this one definitely needs major hormone replacement therapy!! LOL!! Where did you capture Alexander the Gay....Venice Beach? 2 funny!
Oh, Larry...too funny!
Very good-looking
Larry, this guy looks a lot like a man (?) who used to walk the tiny town of which we lived near. Only our guy had a poodle on a leash that wore an outfit matching his owner's ensemble! Wish I had taken pics!
hehehehe, funny, I have a daughter named Alexandria, not in honor of HIM< lol, Maita
Larry, this is truly funny. a good one to start with after i am back hubhopping!
I love history - isn't is amazing - how similar people are throughout the world - throughout the ages. We are unique yet so similar! Great poignant history lesson!
nice legs - shame about the face - tell me the photo was a set up....good hub.
That must be the shortest history lesson ever, and none the worse for that! The pic is great too!
Love and peace
Tony
PS How about some more Hubs - I'm running out of Hubs of yours to comment on!? LOL!
Larry in 30 minutes today you've made me cry . And then made me smile . This pic is the coolest . Now that guy has style and no fear. Hes working those purple pumps. And doing it with a full beard at that . Thanks Your buddy
Ray.
Okay, Larry, now you've done it! Here Alexander the Great had long been one of my heroes. Why, the guy could do no wrong! Um, except for going over a wall alone in India and getting a lung skewered...and actually believing that conquest would work out great as long as the native cultures were more or less left in place...and...
Okay, Alexander the Gay it is!
Alexander without a horse to ride?
Maven, I think he must be looking for a gay horse...LOL
for a five line hub.. so many comments... that means that you have posted some unaccepted, unbelievable topic...
haha how nice photos.....lol
yes i like it but just watching point of view. not for himself....hahahah....man are looking very funny in shoes.. funny man wear funny shoes..
you are a bit of an enigma - maybe just non-judgmental and so I cannot figure out whether you approve of homosexuality or just have a neutral interest? I love that pic!
yeah!he's gay but showed his bravery in fighting the persians and yet,he loves his parents.
you're so beautiful ALEXANDER THE GAYYY..
I had my coffee ready preparing myself for an informative and interesting historical read about Alexander the Great. Lo and behold, there was one paragraph and then this hilarious picture and then nothing more except a million comments. Funny one! I would write more, but then my comment would be longer than your hub. Thanks for the laugh.
So,
Is there to be a Part II?
You had me hooked and then POOF! The ride was over way too soon, lol.
